Prabowo Halts SOE Commissioner Bonuses: What It Means for People

by -9 Views

President Prabowo Subianto has restated his commitment to reforming Indonesia’s state-owned enterprises (SOEs) by eliminating the practice of awarding bonuses, known as tantiem, to SOE commissioners. Speaking at the Apkasi Otonomi Expo 2025 at ICE BSD in Tangerang, Prabowo highlighted the mismanagement of many SOE assets over the years. Through the consolidation of these assets under Danantara, Indonesia has now established a strong global financial presence, ranking fifth in sovereign funds globally. Despite this achievement, Prabowo criticized the practice of granting bonuses to SOE commissioners, especially in times of company losses, labeling it as fundamentally unjust. By removing these bonuses, Prabowo aims to drive a broader reform agenda that emphasizes integrity and professionalism within state-owned entities. He also made it clear that opposition to these reforms is unwelcome, as there are capable young individuals ready to step up and take on the responsibilities.
