President Prabowo Subianto has expressed his commitment to leading Indonesia’s state budget towards a zero-deficit position during his address on the 2026 State Budget Bill at the Parliament Complex in Senayan. The government has proposed a state spending of Rp 3,786.5 trillion with projected revenue of Rp 3,147.7 trillion, aiming for a fiscal deficit of Rp 638.8 trillion, equivalent to 2.48% of GDP. Prabowo emphasized the importance of efficiency measures to reduce the deficit and outlined a vision to achieve a deficit-free budget in the near future. He called for the support of all political forces in Indonesia to courageously eliminate budgetary leakages and introduced creative and sustainable financing methods for development funding. The president also highlighted the need to optimize tax revenues, improve spending quality, and innovate financing to ensure a flexible and credible budget. Fiscal incentives will be carefully targeted to support strategic economic activities while natural resources will be managed efficiently for the people’s prosperity.
